Glen Affric, Loch Assynt & Achmelvich Beach

Glen Affric is a nature reserve and is located about 24 km west of Loch Ness. Amazingly, the vegetation changes suddenly here and you get the feeling that the trees are somehow different, bigger and more exotic, and in a way they are... old Scottish pines, birches, aspens and rowan trees characterize the landscape and in the middle of it all lies the beautiful Loch Affric.

When I took this picturesque photo, I was completely fascinated by the idyllic setting with the two white horses. Everything radiated so much peace and serenity, and I asked myself who was allowed to wake up in this paradise in the morning...

I only knew the answer a few days ago >>>

....and yes, you can drive to Glen Affric without an Aston Martin and a reservation at https://www.glenaffricestate.com/ , although you then have to leave the car in the parking lot at the beginning of the loch and continue on foot, which is not too bad considering this beautiful landscape.

Loch Assynt is a freshwater lake in the Scottish Highlands, about 8km east of Lochinver and for me personally one of the most beautiful "lochs" I have ever seen. Unfortunately the weather wasn't really perfect but maybe that was what created the special atmosphere. In any case, I thought that the scene could perfectly come from a Harry Potter film.

An absolute MUST is the Lochinver Larder Pieshop, a true treat for the palate with simple Scottish cuisine that is really delicious.

We continue to one of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland and ranked among the 50 most beautiful beaches in the world - Achmelvich Beach.

After seeing pictures, I knew more or less what to expect, but the snow-white sand, the dunes and the color of the sea in all shades of green and blue were overwhelmingly beautiful. And then there were the sheep grazing peacefully on the cliffs high above the sea...

The last stage on the way north had another surprise in store.....
